Overview

Cisco Meraki MS120-8 compact switches provide Layer 2 access switching in a fanless, compact form factor. All models include 1GbE SFP ports for fiber uplink, integrated mounting brackets, and a Kensington security slot, making them ideal for rapid and secure deployment to branch location. Cisco Meraki switches are built from the ground-up to be easily managed without compromising any of the power and flexibility traditionally found in enterprise-class switches. Meraki switches are managed through an elegant, intuitive cloud interface, rather than through command line. To set up a Meraki switch, just plug it in; there’s no need for complicated configuration files or even direct physical access to the switch. Meraki’s centralized management gives administrators deep visibility into the network and how it’s used. For example, you can quickly see which switches are near capacity across hundreds of sites, or find all configuration changes made by a member of the team with instant search.

Specification

Technical Description: Cisco Meraki MS120-8FP Managed L2 Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000) Power over Ethernet (PoE) Grey

Data transmission
Jumbo frames:
9600
Jumbo frames support:
Yes
Switching capacity:The data transfer capacity of the switch per second.
20 Gbit/s
MAC address table:The MAC address is the 'Media Access Control Address'. It is a unique address given to a network interface controller (NIC) in a device. A MAC address table shows the addresses in a table format.

Management features
Web-based management:Using a website/web application to manage something.
Yes
Quality of Service (QoS) support:
Yes
Switch layer:A network switch is a computer networking device that links networking segments. A switch has different layers, such as layer 2 (a network bridge, operating at the data link layer, interconnecting a small number of devices) and layer 4 (can act as a firewall, amongst other things).
L2
Switch type:What switch device has, managed or unmanaged.
Managed

Multicast features
Multicast support:
Yes

Network
Number of VLANs:
4094
VLAN support:A Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) consists of a group of computers and switches that can be physically distributed over different networks and buildings, but form one LAN on a logical level.
Yes
Auto MDI/MDI-X:A Medium Dependent Interface (MDI) describes the interface (both physical and electrical) in a computer network from a physical layer implementation to the physical medium used to carry the transmission. Ethernet over twisted pair also defines a medium dependent interface crossover (MDIX) interface. Auto-MDIX ports on newer network interfaces detect if the connection would require a crossover, and automatically chooses the MDI or MDIX configuration to properly match the other end of the link.
Yes
Broadcast storm control:
Yes
Spanning tree protocol:
Yes
10G support:The product can use Oracle 10G, which is a database management system introduced in 2003.
No
Networking standards:The way in which the network is working, e.g. IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g.
IEEE 802.1Q, IEEE 802.1ab, IEEE 802.1ad, IEEE 802.1p, IEEE 802.1w

Installed SFP+ modules quantity:An SFP ("small form-factor pluggable transceiver") is a transmitter/receiver which interfaces a network device motherboard (e.g. in a switch, router) to a fibre optic or copper network cable. The enhanced small form-factor pluggable (SFP+) is an enhanced version of the SFP that supports data rates up to 10 Gbit/s. The "SFP+ ports quantity" is the number of ports for SFP+ connections in a device.
